How to wear grip socks correctly
Share
Grip socks only work when they are worn correctly. Set them up properly and they hold your foot steady inside the boot for the full session. Here is the process we recommend.
Choose the right size first
A grip sock that is too big will fold and slide. Too small and it restricts your foot. Use the size guide on each product page. If you are over 6ft, choose Large regardless of foot size so the sock stretches correctly when your shin pads go in.
Two ways to wear them
On their own. Pull the sock on so the heel sits exactly in the heel pocket. Smooth out any folds through the midfoot. The grip sole should sit flat under your foot.
With your team socks. Most players cut the foot off their team sock, wear the grip sock underneath, and pull the cut team sock over the calf. Overlap the two and secure the join with sock tape or a sleeve. Club colours stay visible. Your foot stays planted.
Before you play
- Check the heel is seated and there are no creases under the sole.
- Fit shin pads after the socks are on.
- Lace your boots to a firm, even pressure. The grip sock does the rest.
Look after the grip
Wash cold, inside out, with similar colours. Skip the dryer and let them air dry. That keeps the grip pattern performing wash after wash.
